Ordinary Time 4

Our celebration today focuses on the Beatitudes, the words of Jesus that challenge and comfort us. We are called to be meek, merciful, poor in spirit, peacemakers. But we will also be persecuted for the sake of the gospel. Yet in all these ways, we will be blessed as well. As we journey through this week let us pray for the grace to live as these words of Jesus directs us.

The Beatitudes offer us a recipe for living lives of faithful service to God and to others. As was announced last weekend, we will celebrate your service to Holy Cross at the Parish Appreciation Tailgate Party on Super Bowl Sunday, February 6, from Noon to 2:00 PM. During this event we will honor the first recipient of the Fr. Straub Service Award. Fr. Straub served here as Pastor from 1918-1952. The first recipient of the award is Barry Premoshis. Throughout the years, Barry has saved Holy Cross thousands of dollars through his many hours of volunteer service in many areas. We are extremely grateful for his service to Holy Cross. Plan on attending the party where you can personally thank, congratulate, and wish Barry a happy 75th birthday! And because the Steelers will be playing that evening, wear your black and gold!
